This album is the first of three in the "Leafless" collection.
The main body of the album was recorded live by Ben Cochran at the original Soap Floats recording studio (aka "The Church") in Cincinnati, Ohio on December 19th, 2008. The secret track was recorded in 2007, partially by Jim Edwards at his home studio in Austin, Texas, and partially by Devin Lamp at his home studio in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

The live tracks were performed under the name The C.J. Boyd Sextet:
